عنوان انگلیسی A Review of Medicinal Plants Effective on Blood Pressure: An Ethnobotanical Review
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Objective: High blood pressure means a high level of pressure caused by the impact of blood on the walls of the arteries. High blood pressure causes complications such as heart disease, kidney failure, arteriosclerosis, eye damage and stroke. The aim of the present study is to identify the medicinal plants that are used in the western border of the country (Iran) for the treatment of high blood pressure.
Methodology: In this review study, the keywords medicinal plants, Iran, blood pressure, Urmia, Tabriz, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Ilam, Khuzestan and ethnobotany were used to search for articles. Databases such as Google Scholar, SID, Magiraan, PubMed, Scopus were used for searching. Related ethnobotanical articles were used to review the texts.
Results: Medicinal plants including Foeniculum vulgare Mill., Achillea millefolium L., Fumaria officinalis L., Apium graveolens, Urtica dioica L., Crataegus pontica C. Koch., Rheum ribes L., Allium schoenoprasum, Achillea biebersteinii, Achillea millefolium, Prunus cerasifera, Gentian olivieri, Olea europaea L., Rumex pulcher L. and Crataegus monogyna L. are antihypertensive medicinal plants in western Iran.
Conclusion: Studies have shown that some medicinal herbs and spices can reduce blood pressure and have an effect on blood pressure and can be effective as antihypertensive drugs.
